Saturday, we took Lucy to the Southern States Dachshund Rescue picnic at Henry Horton State Park. Laurie, I was near good ole Columbia and I recognized it from long ago! I also got gas for $3.22! I digress, anyway. We had a blast. The weather was gorgeous and there were soooo many cute dachshunds there. This first pic is a group of dogs for adoption. I love the umbrella idea!
For a $2.00 donation, we entered Lucy in the bobbing for weenies event. This is the before pic. This is the after pic. There were too many dogs trying to fit in that one little pool so I didnt put Lucy in there. I was afraid she would freak out and bite another dog!
My mom's friend Julie (pictured below) has 3 dachshunds and she is the one who told us about the picnic. My mom won this super cute dachshund blanket. She always wins!
We also entered Lucy in the dachshund race. My mom videoed it but she got so excited cheering for Lucy most of the video is of the grass! Lucy started out great. We put Jason and her carrier (her 2 favorite things) at the finish line and I was at the start. She ran about half way and I was cheering Go Lucy go and when she heard me she turned around and ran back to me! So, I think if I could have stayed quiet maybe she would have won! We really did have a great time and I hope the SSDR raised a ton of money b/c they do alot for abused and disabled dachshunds.
