The Greatest Day of My Life!!!!
If you don't recognize this house, you should be shot, plain and simple! It just so happens that a little ways from our hotel is an historic landmark(historic to me that is). This is the house where they filmed A Christmas Story in 1983. My favorite movie of all time. I try to watch at least 12 of the 24 hours they play on TBS at Christmas every year. I've been to the Lincoln Memorial, JFK's grave, and Congress, but this was the coolest place I've ever visited. A guy in the Navy bought the house on E-Bay and completely gutted it and brought it back to its original glory at a total cost of around $325,000. He also bought the two houses across the street for a giftshop and museum. A little trivia for any other ACS dorks out there like me: The school and flagpole where Flick gets his tongue stuck are in canada, bummer; all the snow in the opening of the movie is completely fake.
The back yard and shed where Ralphie battled Black Bart and later almost shot his eye out.
The kitchen where Randy shows mommy how the three little piggys eat. They didn't film those scenes in this kitchen, because as you can tell its tiny! But everything from the original set was brought to the house and arranges as it was in the movie.
Here's Heather hiding under the sink where Randy hid when he thought his dad was going to kill Ralphie for beating up Scott Farkas. I dont think we were supposed to be this interactive with the house, but F them, I paid my $7!!!
The glow of electric sex in the window!!
NOTE: The 25th anniversary is this Nov. 28 & 29. They're having a huge convention in Cleveland. The stars will be there to meet and greet and show a documentary on the making of the movie and what went on behind the scenes. I'm definately going to be there. Hey, at least I'm not a Trekkie!!!
