Playing stickball next to the interstate on ramp. Just how I imagined Boston! We really had a great trip and Im so glad we went. Of course, their accents crack me up. Also, everyone says "You're all set" which means soooo many things. For example: You are getting on the bus and the machine wont take your dollar bill. If the driver says "You're all set" that means go sit down and have a free ride!! If you call to make a restaurant reservation and the person says "You're all set" that means goodbye. And lastly, if the server comes by and says "You're all set" they are about to take your plate so you better make sure you are done!! It took me a couple of days to realize the whole town says this!!
Friday night we went to the Charles River to hear the Boston Pops for the July 4th celebration. We didnt stay for the fireworks b/c we had been up since 5am and were exhausted. I got to hear the Pops play Mambo from West Side Story and the Rocky song so I was happy!
The one and only. They had the best Clam Chowdah! Speaking of food, we had some amazing meals. Jason loved the Beantown Pub where he had BBQ Steaktips and my fav. meal was at Atlantic Seafood Co. I had lobster and crap dip and lobster pot pie. I dont feel too bad about eating like a pig, b/c we walked at least 4 miles everyday. During the walk to Harvard, we almost filed for divorce!! It was sooo hot and we didnt anticipate the walk being quite so long!
Part of the Freedom Trail was to tour a cemetary where Sam Adams, John Hancock, and Paul Revere are buried.
The Freedom Trail starts in Boston Common which is a lot like Central Park in New York. Our guide said in the 1700s the Common was used for public hangings. Wives and children were often hanged for talking back to husbands and parents. I told Jason I would not have lasted long in olden times!!
This is an area of town called Beacon Hill. Supposedly, John Kerry and the author Robin Cooke live here. And I heard some other tourists say this was one of the most photographed streets in the world, so you know I had to take a pic!!
