Our Trip to Holiday World

Friday afternoon Jason, my mom, and I headed up to Santa Claus, Indiana to check out Holiday World and Splashin' Safari. Larry and Emily left after we did but arrived at Santa's Lodge an hour before us. I was in the back seat reading a magazine, wrongly assuming my mom knew the quickest route to our destination. After about 1.5 hours on the road I asked where we were and we had long since passed our exit to the parkway connecting us to 64. Anyway, we finally made it to the hotel and had dinner with Larry and Emily (who were chilling out in our suite!) Needless to say we followed Larry back home and made it in 2.5 hours!
Friday night after dinner we put Emily to bed and played penny poker. My mom said she didnt know how to play poker but either she was bluffing or she caught on quick b/c she cleaned us all out! As you can see above Emily was not too excited Saturday morning. Once we got to the park she had a whole new outlook!!
Santa's Lodge is across the street from Holiday World. It is always decorated for Christmas and is fairly inexpensive. The restaurant has pretty decent food, which is good since the only other place to eat for about 20 miles is a Subway. This place is literally in the middle of nowhere.
Merry Christmas!
Here Emily is being super helpful by putting sunblock on her daddy. I think she used half a bottle for one shoulder! So, we had an awesome time at Holiday World. Emily was able to ride alot of the big water slides and she wasnt scared at all. This child isnt afraid of anything! She also rode the log ride which she loved and a ride similar to the Grizzly River Rampage like they had at Opryland. She got drenched but loved it! The only bad thing about the park was 2 water slides I really wanted to ride had lines that had hour long waits. The food is really inexpensive and not bad (compared to most amusement parks). Also, it was super clean and the employees were really nice.
Self portrait. 2 funny stories from the park:
The first roller coaster we rode I sat on my hat so it wouldnt fly off (I thought this was a brilliant idea on my part) and at the end of the ride I realized it was gone! I was so shocked and mad b/c it was my fav. Alabama hat(ROLL TIDE). So, I was standing in line to get a drink and I was directly across from the roller coaster when all of a sudden I see it drop from the coaster track onto the platform below. I couldnt believe it! So I yell my hat! and start running to an employee and explain to him the situation and to please call a maintenance person to get it for me. First, he has to give me a lecture on how Im suppose to secure all valueables blah, blah, blah! I got it back with roller coaster grease and track marks all over it. How many times did Emily ask me why do you have grease on your hat? About 17!!!
Funny story #2:
Jason, my mom and I get in the Lazy River, ya know all you have to do is get in an intertube and float. Pretty simple. Well, my mom and I get in and turn around to find Jason completely under water with only his feet sticking out of the water. He had jumped into a child sized intertube and it dumped him right back out! We cracked up. But then I did the same thing but it wasnt as funny as Jason! Also, Jason and Larry rode the Voyage which is a HUGE wooden rollercoaster that was voted best in the world and they both thought it was awesome. They rode it last and I was too tired to stand in another line so Ill ride it next time.
Also, Happy Fathers Day to all the daddys out there!!
